CAMIE BOSNIK:

Obama welcomes new director of the FBI, Jim Comey, with assurance In Obama's welcome speech for the new director of the FBI, he could not have been more sure of his choice in Jim Comey. He started off by addressing the accomplishments of the FBI, particularly while the previous director, Bob Mueller, was in office from 2001. Without a single stammer, Obama introduced Comey's success not only as an attorney, but as a person. He claims that Comey had the resume, but it was his calm and collective manner in a crisis that reassured the president's faith in Comey's qualification for this job. Furthermore, talking with Comey and his family solidified Obama's choice in the new director because he claims that he knew this man understood what is right and what is wrong and that there is no better man for the job. In the middle of his speech, Obama sidebars addresses the need for resources and he will make sure the we, the citizens of the United States, have the resources to do the jobs expected of us. When the seven director of the United States is finally introduced, Comey takes the stand with ease and confidence. He recognizes his family and their role in his new position. Comey uses the bureaus motto on the shield as the foundation for his speech: fidelity, bravery, and integrity. Comey states his desire to work alongside these people who believe and support these morals and he hopes to live up them.
