The New Face Behind the FBI - Edited

President Obama began his speech on Monday in front of the Department of Justice in Washington DC, by offering praise to the FBI. President Obama believes that James B. Comey exemplifies the characteristics of a leader above all other candidates and looks forward to what he can do to continue the tradition of the FBI. Comey became the 7th director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation following his ceremonial oath.

Obama went on to apologize to the FBI for being thwarted during the government shutdown. The President is aware of the task at hand and the great difficulty of protecting the nation at home and abroad. He assures that such events will not happen again and that the Federal Bureau of Investigation will receive adequate resources in order to complete its responsibilities.

Comey’s term as Director of the FBI is set for 10 years.  He has complete faith in his agents and considers them fully prepared to uphold justice and to continue the organization’s mission. Comey took time in his speech to explain the motto of the Bureau, and why “fidelity, bravery and integrity” must be upheld, so that the FBI does not stray from its mission

The new Director looks to uphold the policy of making all new agents and analysts visit the Holocaust Museum. He will now require employees to also visit the memorial to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Upon visiting these sites, Comey hopes that the FBI agents and analysts will be able to see the importance of power and how too much can become fatal.
James B. Comey was the former deputy attorney general during the Presidency of George W. Bush. He has further enhanced his resume through the prosecution of the Gambino Family. Comey looks forward to the honor and the challenge of leading the FBI.
